Hmmm--thought he was older (and that he was there longer); just looked it I guess...at least when he showed up at the Raiders we didn't think he'd amt to much, but he sure showed us...

Plunkett may have been 28 by the calendar when he left the Pats but his body was 48 due to the beating he took behind a god awful Patriots offensive line in the early 70's. I was at the last game he started as a Pat when he got absolutely crushed on a sack. The fans jeered him mercilessly as he limped off the field and we thought into oblivion. Personnally I liked the guy since the first time I saw him at Stanford and took great satisfaction in his later success at Oakland. I really used to love watching the old AFL West games, Oakland, KC, San Diego, Denver, Daryle Lamonica, John Hadl, Len Dawson, Lionel Taylor, Otis Taylor, Buck Buchanan, Jim Otto, Lance Alworth, Fred Biletnikoff...
